About Me

Hi, I'm Grace Long! I am a Communication Major with Creative Writing and Digital Media Minors currently attending Bellarmine University. I have always been a very creative person --- from dreaming up eccentric storylines during preschool playtime all the way to my current day escapades in design and writing. I see art in its many forms, as a vessel in which I can, and must, exude passion and prowess. So while you may never see me giggling over a math equation, I can assure you that I put my blood, sweat, tears, and giggles into each and every one of my art pieces.

HEADACHE (21 GRAMS)

“...children are, at the bottom, conscious of their transformation into adulthood.”

Gehard Demetz

So, how did it feel? A rod went through his head.

The headache

Blood, hot and thick, flows like lava

In and out of my brain; my consciousness

The pressure… the pressure in between my brows

It keeps me contemplative, sharply.

The frame of a child, yet the face of my father

My father’s father and my father’s father’s god

I am stuck.

I am stuck in the head.

Wrapped around arts and sciences, anecdotes and existences

The weight… the weight pins me in place.

I can feel it sharply.

With all my heart, all my soul, all my strength

My weakness wonders: What connects my heart and soul?

I cradle my head in an arm that reaches through my chest.

Through me.
